Renovations started in May 2008 on Lord House.  Every consideration was given to preserve the historic significance of the house.  The south porch was nearly totally rebuilt.  All the handrails had to be replicated but, under the old slate siding we uncovered the original detail and charm of the clapboard.  The exterior of the house has been restored to what it looked like when Livingston Lord lived here.  All the interior casing, base, and doors were reworked.  Interior trim that was missing or damaged was reproduced to match the original.  The floors in the home have been refinished and are original.  Every window had to be reworked, reglazed and re-wieghted.  They all function properly and the windows are weather tight, complete with the original hardware.  Lord house has a new roof, new wiring to NEC code and all the plumbing DWV and water lines are new.  The HVAC system has been zoned to maintain comfort on both floors with one central furnace and air conditioner.  To continue the "Green" philosophy Lord house was insulated with cellulose in the attic and the sidewalls.  The sidewalls were blown in from the inside during the drywall finish stage.  During the rehabilitation, we discovered that the foyer fireplace had originally been a pass-through with the dining room.  Sometime over the years later owners of the house enclosed and bricked up the dining room side.  After this, we decided to return it to a pass-through with a gas insert for heat and ambiance.  Work was completed in May of 2009 and an open house was held May 3rd.  Over 1300 guests toured Lord House that day.
